Born in 1936, the late Lim Mu Hue is one of the most innovative and versatile artists of his generation, renowned for his mastery of oil paintings, pastel drawings, woodblock prints, and Chinese ink painting. By amalgamating Eastern and Western art principles, Lim created his distinctive style that enabled him to capture scenes of Singapore and Southeast Asia. His artworks were selected for a public mural at the Esplanade MRT station and a major retrospective for the artist was held at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, in 2014. Lim’s artworks are in the collection of the National Gallery Singapore, the National University of Singapore (NUS) Museum, and important private collections.
