NEW NARRATIVE
19 AUGUST — 10 SEPTEMBER 2023
ang ah tee
New Narrative, a solo exhibition by Cultural Medallion recipient Ang Ah Tee, features 15 never-before-seen ink paintings. The artist, known for his lyrical depictions of landscapes in acrylic, shifted to the language of Chinese ink for this exhibition to tell the stories of early Singapore. Ang’s collection of old black and white photographs of Singapore in the 1960s and 1970s sparked the creation of this series of ink works. By exploring a new medium to illustrate the past, New Narrative is a bold statement of innovation by an already accomplished artist.
