In conjunction with the Singapore Art Week 2024, Confluence Art Space proudly presents “Hues of the Same River”, an exhibition featuring 13 watercolour paintings of old and modern Singapore. Hues of the Same River is a direct reference to the Singapore River, the historic heart of the island nation that is a key component of the Singapore story. While the colours of Singapore today differ from those of decades ago, the city continues to exude a unique charm. The title of the exhibition also relates to the two local watercolour masters featured; like how a mighty river has its source upstream, Cultural Medallion recipient and second-generation artist Ong Kim Seng is highly inspired by the late pioneer watercolourist Gog Sing Hooi.
