Confluence Art Space proudly presents “Fernweh — Scenes of Germany & abroad”, a solo exhibition by 2006 Cultural Medallion recipient, Tan Choh Tee. Tan, has a creative process that is governed by the artist’s insistence on painting from life, and this has spurred him to travel the world in search of inspiration. Fernweh, the title of the exhibition, a German word for “the yearning for travel”, was specially selected to emphasise the highlight of this exhibition – a set of six en plein air paintings of German towns that were completed during an expedition in June 2024. Fernweh will feature Tan’s paintings of other destinations, including Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Bali and other parts of Indonesia that were executed between the late 1970s and the late 2010s.
